The Rapsodo MLM2XPRO and the Square Golf OMNI are two of the most asked-about launch monitors for a home simulator in 2026, and they work in opposite ways. The MLM2XPRO sits behind the ball and pairs Doppler radar with two cameras. The OMNI sits beside the ball and reads it with four high-speed cameras. The MLM2XPRO is $899.99 and needs a Rapsodo membership for most of what it does. The OMNI is $1,599 with no subscription. Jay Lasco, host of Golf Simulator Videos, has tested the OMNI since one of the first US units arrived in May 2026 and the MLM2XPRO since it arrived in October 2026, in Rapsodo's software and in GSPro. Below is everything that separates them: price and yearly cost, the data, marked balls, indoors and outdoors, putting, swing video, practice, software and GSPro, the room each needs, what Jay has found so far, and who each one suits.
Codes first: GSVSQUARE takes 5% off the Square Golf OMNI at Square Golf, $1,599 to $1,519.05. GSV5OFF takes 5% off a first order at Shop Indoor Golf, where the MLM2XPRO came to $855.00 from $899.99 at a GSV checkout on October 10, 2026.

On this page: the short answer, side by side, price and cost over three years, the data, marked balls, indoors and outdoors, putting, swing video, practice, software and GSPro, setup and hitting zone, the room, accuracy, what Jay found, who each suits, the MLM2PRO and Square Golf HE, codes, free consultation and questions.
The short answer
- Price and fees pull in opposite directions. The MLM2XPRO costs $699.01 less up front. The OMNI, close to double the price, has no subscription at all. With a Core membership each year, the MLM2XPRO comes within about $100 of the OMNI after three years and passes it in the fourth.
- Indoors, the OMNI needs no marked balls. It reads spin from the dimples of any ball. The MLM2XPRO measures spin only from Rapsodo's RPT balls, and 12 come in the box. The OMNI does use stickers on the club for its club data.
- Outdoors, the MLM2XPRO's radar follows the ball in the air. The OMNI also works outdoors and reads spin on any ball, but from the moment of impact. With range balls, the MLM2XPRO gives no measured spin.
- The MLM2XPRO films the swing. Swing video and Impact Vision come from its own camera. The OMNI has no swing video, but it has a screen showing each shot without a phone, and it measures where the ball met the face.
- Both putt, both play GSPro, and both fit a home simulator. The OMNI connects to GSPro for free and fits a shallower room, from 14 ft 4 in deep in the GSV Sim Builder against 16 ft. The MLM2XPRO needs a membership for GSPro, but brings Rapsodo's 30,000+ courses with putting.

Price, subscriptions and cost over three years
MLM2XPRO: less up front, then a yearly membership. The unit comes with a 21-day Core trial. Without a membership, the free plan gives outdoor range practice and 11 figures in the phone app. Core, $199.99 a year, gives all 15 figures, practice modes, swing video and Impact Vision, more than 30,000 courses with putting, the PC app and third-party software such as GSPro. Studios, $399.99 a year in all, adds Rapsodo's 4K courses.
OMNI: one price. Square Golf charges no subscription for the OMNI's data, its app or its connections to other software. The range, closest to the pin and putting practice in Square Golf's app are free; course play in the app uses credits, with 1,000 in the box, which Square Golf says is enough for more than 55 rounds for one player.
| Three years, list prices | MLM2XPRO with Core | Square Golf OMNI |
|---|---|---|
| The unit and its own software | $1,499.96 | $1,599 |
| Plus GSPro, $250 a year | $2,249.96 | $2,349 |
| Four years, own software | $1,699.95 | $1,599 |
The MLM2XPRO line is $899.99 plus a full year of Core each year; with Studios instead, three years come to $2,099.96. GSPro is separate software from GSPro, the same $250 a year with either unit. Before codes, tax and shipping. Every unit with no yearly fee is in launch monitors with no subscription.
The data
MLM2XPRO. Rapsodo lists 15 figures and marks 8 as measured: ball speed, launch angle, launch direction, club speed, angle of attack, club path, and spin rate and spin axis with an RPT ball. Smash factor, carry, total distance, apex, descent angle, side carry and shot type are worked out from those. There is no face angle and no impact location; Impact Vision is a slow-motion video of impact.
OMNI. Square Golf's fact sheet marks ball speed, launch angle, launch direction, backspin and sidespin as measured, with carry shown on the screen. For the club, path and attack angle are measured with a sticker on the shaft, club speed and impact point with stickers on the shaft and the face, and face angle and dynamic loft are estimated. It reads ball speed from 4 to 200 mph on full shots and 1 to 45 mph on putts, backspin up to 12,000 rpm and club speed up to 140 mph.
So the OMNI adds where the ball met the face, and an estimate of face angle, while the MLM2XPRO gives its club data with no stickers on the club. What each number means is in launch monitor numbers explained.
Marked balls and spin indoors
This is the difference that comes up most. Indoors a ball flies only a few feet before the screen:
- MLM2XPRO: any ball gives ball speed, launch and carry, but Rapsodo measures spin rate and spin axis only from its RPT balls, printed with a pattern the cameras read. A dozen come in the box, Titleist Pro V1 or Callaway Chrome Tour; more are $69.99 a dozen from Rapsodo.
- OMNI: no marked balls. Its cameras read the dimples of an ordinary ball. Square Golf recommends a standard white ball: very bright, dark, matte or heavily patterned balls may not track well. The club stickers are the only markings it uses, and only for club data.
Every ball each unit wants is in the best golf balls for a simulator.
Indoors and outdoors
- MLM2XPRO outdoors: its Doppler radar tracks the ball in the air, so the flight itself is followed, a very accurate read in Jay's view. With ordinary range balls there is no measured spin, since Rapsodo reads spin only from RPT balls. Outdoor range practice works on the free plan in the phone app.
- OMNI outdoors: built for indoors and outdoors, natural grass included, and it reads spin on any ball. Its cameras read the ball at impact rather than following the flight. The screen on the unit shows each shot with no phone. Square Golf rates it IP44, not waterproof: keep it out of rain and keep direct sunlight out of the cameras, with the sun behind or beside it. GSV tested it on turf in direct sunlight.
Putting
- MLM2XPRO: the first Rapsodo that putts, on all 30,000+ Rapsodo courses with Core, with a putter added to the bag. In GSPro, in Jay's test on October 19, 2026, it read launch direction to tenths of a degree, pushes and pulls from 0.2 to 1.7 deg, and putts down to about 2 ft of roll, at 1.5 to 1.6 mph. Lag putts from 37 and 40 ft read with their pushes and pulls. The putter has to be selected in GSPro.
- OMNI: a putting mode in Square Golf's app, with ball speed read from 1 mph on putts. Jay tested its putting in the OMNI review.
One open question on the MLM2XPRO: in Rapsodo's own PC app, Jay has seen some putts read 0.0 deg of launch direction, and he is working out why. How much of the roll it reads is not published. From his putts it looks like about the first foot, so a ball that bounces off the face in that stretch may change the read, which would be the stroke, not the unit. In GSPro the same unit showed small pushes and pulls more often. The full test is in the MLM2XPRO in GSPro, putting and chipping, and every launch monitor that putts is in putting simulators for home.
Swing video
- MLM2XPRO: its camera records the swing, and with Core it adds Impact Vision, a 240 frames a second view of the club meeting the ball, with a drawing of the club's path and face. In Jay's dark studio the video replay worked well, and videos can be downloaded. For many golfers this built-in swing camera is the reason to pick it.
- OMNI: no swing video. Its four cameras look at the ball and the club through impact, and its answer to the same question is impact location on the face, with the stickers.
Practice
- MLM2XPRO, with Core: eight practice modes, among them Bag Mapping and Wedge Matrix, swing video after each shot, two golfer profiles (four with Studios), and the shots kept in Rapsodo's cloud. The free plan keeps outdoor range practice and 11 figures.
- OMNI, with no fee: the range, closest to the pin and putting practice in Square Golf's app, club data with impact location, and the screen on the unit, which shows ball speed, launch, direction, spin and carry with no phone at all, handy at the range.
Software, GSPro and other simulator software
| MLM2XPRO | Square Golf OMNI | |
|---|---|---|
| Own app | Rapsodo Golf app on iOS and Android, and the Rapsodo PC app | Square Golf app on iOS, Android and Windows PC |
| Own courses | 30,000+ with Core, with putting; 4K Studios courses, 25 at launch | Course play on credits, 1,000 included |
| GSPro | Listed by Rapsodo; partner apps need internet and a membership. Played and putted in Jay's test | On GSPro's own list, with Square Golf's free SQG GSPro Connect |
| Others named | E6 Apex, E6 Connect, Awesome Golf | E6 Connect, Awesome Golf, Creative Golf |
| Connection | Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to the phone; a USB-C cable to the PC app | Bluetooth 5.1 to a phone, tablet or PC |
GSPro is not free: it is $250 a year from GSPro and runs on a Windows PC. The connection to it is free from Square Golf; on the MLM2XPRO it comes with a Rapsodo membership. Rapsodo's new PC app is a step up in graphics from its earlier software, as Jay found in the MLM2XPRO review. More in GSPro compatible launch monitors.
Setup and hitting zone
- MLM2XPRO: on its tripod 6 1/2 to 8 1/2 ft directly behind the ball, by Rapsodo's PC app, with at least 8 ft from the ball to the screen or net. The screen on top shows when it is level as the built-in tilt is set, and the app shows where to place the ball. The same spot works for right and left-handed golfers.
- OMNI: beside the ball, facing the golfer. The ball sits about 14 in in front of the unit and 2 in to the side, in a hitting zone about 10 in by 10 in; for club data, play the ball toward the front of the zone. An alignment stick sets the target line. For a left-handed golfer, the unit moves across to the other side and is lined up again.
The room each needs
The MLM2XPRO adds depth behind the golfer; the OMNI, beside the ball, adds none. In the GSV Sim Builder, for a 5 ft 9 in golfer in a room 14 ft wide with a 10 ft ceiling:
| GSV Sim Builder | MLM2XPRO | Square Golf OMNI |
|---|---|---|
| Shortest room that fits | 16 ft deep | 14 ft 4 in deep |
| With nothing to watch | 17 ft deep | 17 ft deep |
| Lowest ceiling with nothing to watch | 8 ft 11 in | 8 ft 11 in |
The ceiling is for a room 20 ft deep. It comes from the swing, not the unit, so it is the same for both. Lay out your own room with either one:

Which is more accurate?
It is too early to say. GSV has not yet tested the two side by side against a reference launch monitor, and Jay has had the MLM2XPRO only since October 2026. What there is so far:
- MLM2XPRO: Rapsodo says it uses the MLM2PRO's cameras and radar, so GSV's MLM2PRO accuracy test against a Foresight GCQuad carries over. In Jay's first weeks it has read solidly, apart from the 0.0 deg putts above. Wedge spin read about 9,500 rpm on a soft 54 deg wedge, and a draw spun less than a fade, as expected.
- OMNI: in a 10-drive test in GSPro in May 2026, good drives carried about 270 to 275 yd with 2,200 to 2,300 rpm, and a strike low on the face showed lower launch and more spin, as it should. Three drives at 157 to 162 mph of ball speed read a spin axis of zero, one with a visible curve left. After the 1.4 firmware in June 2026, Jay saw zero side spin again outdoors with the driver, mainly on very good strikes.
The OMNI tests are in the OMNI driver test in GSPro and the OMNI 1.4 firmware test.
What Jay has found so far
- MLM2XPRO, after its first weeks: solid so far. Shots show quickly, and Rapsodo told GSV processing is twice as fast as the MLM2PRO. The 4K PC app looks much better than Rapsodo's earlier software. Putting works in Rapsodo's software and GSPro, with the 0.0 deg putts still being checked. Outdoors, the radar following the ball is its strength; the built-in swing camera is the feature many golfers buy it for.
- OMNI, since May 2026: no marked balls indoors and no subscription are its two big advantages, with the screen on the unit, club data with impact location and the replaceable battery, which lasted 5 to 7 hours in testing. On the early unit, a software crash and inconsistent flop shots turned up, plus the driver spin axis readings above.

Who each one suits
- You should buy the MLM2XPRO if you want the lower price today, swing video and Impact Vision from the unit, radar that follows the ball outdoors, Rapsodo's 30,000+ courses with putting or its 4K courses, and you plan to keep a Rapsodo membership and hit RPT balls indoors. It also suits a room with space behind the golfer.
- You should buy the Square Golf OMNI if you want to pay once with no subscription, hit any ball indoors with no markings, see each shot on the unit at the range, get club speed and impact location, connect to GSPro at no charge, or fit a room as shallow as 14 ft 4 in.
- For sim golf in GSPro: both play it. The OMNI connects for free; the MLM2XPRO needs a membership on top of GSPro's own $250 a year.
- For practice: the MLM2XPRO for swing video and Rapsodo's practice modes; the OMNI for marker-free spin, impact location and data on the unit with no phone.

MLM2XPRO vs Square Golf OMNI questions
Which is more accurate, the MLM2XPRO or the Square Golf OMNI?
It is too early to say: GSV has not yet tested them side by side against a reference launch monitor. The MLM2XPRO uses the MLM2PRO's cameras and radar, which GSV tested against a Foresight GCQuad, and has read solidly in Jay's first weeks apart from some 0.0 deg putts he is checking. The OMNI read good drives as expected in GSV's tests, with some drives showing a spin axis or side spin of zero.
Which is better for sim golf, the MLM2XPRO or the OMNI?
Both play GSPro. The OMNI connects to GSPro for free and plays courses in Square Golf's app on credits, with no subscription. The MLM2XPRO needs a Rapsodo membership for GSPro, and Core, $199.99 a year, brings Rapsodo's 30,000+ courses with putting. GSPro itself is $250 a year with either.
Which is better for practice, the MLM2XPRO or the OMNI?
The MLM2XPRO records the swing and adds Impact Vision and Rapsodo's practice modes with Core. The OMNI reads any ball with no markings, measures impact location on the face, and shows each shot on its own screen with no phone, with no fee.
Do you need marked balls with the MLM2XPRO or the Square Golf OMNI?
Indoors, the MLM2XPRO measures spin only from Rapsodo's RPT balls, 12 in the box and $69.99 a dozen. The OMNI needs no marked balls: its cameras read the dimples of any ball. The OMNI uses stickers on the club for its club data.
Does the MLM2XPRO or the OMNI need a subscription?
The OMNI needs none. The MLM2XPRO comes with a 21-day Core trial; after it, the free plan shows 11 figures, and Core, $199.99 a year, gives all 15 figures, swing video, courses with putting and third-party software. Studios is $399.99 a year.
Which is better outdoors?
Both work outdoors. The MLM2XPRO's radar follows the ball in the air, but with range balls it gives no measured spin. The OMNI reads spin on any ball from impact and shows each shot on its screen; it is rated IP44 and needs direct sunlight kept out of its cameras.
Does the Square Golf OMNI have a swing camera like the MLM2XPRO?
No. The MLM2XPRO records swing video and, with Core, Impact Vision at 240 frames a second. The OMNI's four cameras read the ball and the club at impact, and it gives impact location on the face instead.
Which needs less room, the MLM2XPRO or the OMNI?
The OMNI. It sits beside the ball, so in the GSV Sim Builder a room 14 ft wide with a 10 ft ceiling fits it from 14 ft 4 in deep, against 16 ft for the MLM2XPRO, which sits behind the golfer. Both fit with nothing to watch from 17 ft.
How much more is the OMNI than the MLM2XPRO?
At list price, $1,599 against $899.99, $699.01 more. With a Core membership each year, the MLM2XPRO comes to $1,499.96 over three years and passes the OMNI's one price in the fourth year.
Is there a discount code for the MLM2XPRO or the Square Golf OMNI?
Yes. GSVSQUARE takes 5% off the OMNI at Square Golf, $1,599 to $1,519.05. GSV5OFF takes 5% off a first order at Shop Indoor Golf, the MLM2XPRO from $899.99 to $855.00 at GSV's checkout.
Is there free help choosing between them?
Yes. GSV's partner builders, master builders Jay hand-picked, offer a free consultation: they check that the launch monitor, the room and the screen fit before you buy, and offer package deals, DIY packages and full installation.
