ProTee VX vs Uneekor EYE XO2: Which Overhead Golf Simulator Is Right for You?

The ProTee VX and the Uneekor EYE XO2 are the two overhead launch monitors most often weighed against each other for a home simulator. Both hang from the ceiling just ahead of the ball, read right and left-handed golfers from the same spot, and run GSPro. They part on price, on what each asks of the club, and on what each costs every year. The EYE XO2 figures are from Uneekor's product page, read October 17, 2026. ProTee publishes no price on its own site and sells through more than 150 resellers. It launched the VX at $6,500 in 2023 and has said it holds that price, with no sales or discounts.

Price and yearly fees

ProTee VX. $6,500, with no subscription: ProTee Labs, its practice and data software, comes with it for the life of the unit, and ProTee says GolfCore, its own course software, will be free for VX owners. GSPro connects through ProTee's official connector. E6 CONNECT and Creative Golf need their own licenses and ProTee's third-party connector.

Uneekor EYE XO2. $10,999. It includes Uneekor's free Player package, for ball and club data and the VIEW driving range, and three months of the Ultimate package, $599 a year after that. Third-party software such as GSPro needs Uneekor's Pro membership, $199 a year.

What each reads

Both read the ball and the club from above at impact, so nothing sits on the floor and neither has to move for a left-handed golfer.

• ProTee VX: ball speed, spin, spin axis, launch angle and direction; club speed, path, face angle, face to path, attack angle, dynamic loft, lie and impact point; and the flight. ProTee uses AI to find the club and its face without stickers. Any standard white ball works, though ProTee suggests avoiding striped balls and glittery covers. Under 0.3 seconds from strike to data, by ProTee.
• Uneekor EYE XO2: 15 ball figures and 9 club figures, among them club path, face angle, face to path, attack angle, dynamic loft, lie and impact point. Uneekor recommends its club stickers for accurate club data. Its Club Optix records a high-speed video of the club and ball through contact on every shot.

Uneekor's CEO told Jay the EYE XO2 was designed for the larger hitting zone and the trouble mats, not for more data or accuracy than the EYE XO before it.

Hitting zone and trouble mats

The EYE XO2's 28 x 21 in zone is the largest Uneekor makes, and the VX's 25 x 21 in is close behind. For Jay, the XO2's wider zone is what lets a left-handed golfer tee off the mat in a 15 ft wide room, and on the VX he could set up well to either side of his insert and it still locked on.

Only the EYE XO2 reads Uneekor's trouble mats: rough and bunker inserts that go in the hitting mat, both in the box. GSV hit from both in the XO2 install video.

What Jay found with each

GSV has not filmed the two side by side. These are from each install.

• ProTee VX, garage, 2026: mounted on the Carl's PRO crossbar with Carl's VX mount, which Jay did alone but calls a two-person job. Running the Ethernet and power cables took longer than the rest. Calibration is a board in the hitting area and one click. 8-iron spin read 6,000 to 7,000 rpm and dropped right away on a fat shot, cuts and draws read with the right shape, and shots came back nearly instantly. In GSPro, chips, bump and runs and 3 ft putts all read, and ProTee Labs replays the putter face at impact. Out of a bunker, its replay lined the face and path up with the club on an open-faced splash shot.
• Uneekor EYE XO2, basement studio, since 2023: installed and calibrated with Uneekor's Launcher software, then hit from the hitting mat and both trouble mats. It has been Jay's daily driver since.

Ceiling and room

Both want 9 to 10 ft from the mount to the hitting surface, 10 ft at best, so the ceiling has to clear that plus the mat and the bracket. ProTee gives 9 ft as its minimum; its help center reports no issues at 8 ft 8 in and does not recommend 8 ft 4 in, where a wedge could hit the unit. Over 10 ft, ProTee suggests a drop-down or adjustable mount, an extension, or an enclosure or stand, such as the crossbar on a Carl's PRO.

• Uneekor EYE XO2: Uneekor VIEW with the free Player package, more of Uneekor's own software in its paid packages, and third-party software such as GSPro, E6 CONNECT and TGC 2019 with the Pro membership.
