Garmin makes two launch monitors for a home golf simulator: the Approach R50, $4,999.99, an all-in-one camera unit with its own 10 in screen that sits beside the ball, and the Approach R10, $499.99, a pocket-size radar that sits behind it. Both run Garmin's Home Tee Hero course play with a Garmin Golf membership, and both connect to GSPro. This page gives the price of each, which one fits which room, what the membership costs, the packages and where GSV sends buyers. Jay Lasco, host of Golf Simulator Videos, has filmed on the R10 since 2021 and on the R50 since January 2026.

Prices and specs are Shop Indoor Golf's product pages on October 8, 2026, before tax and shipping, with the barometer from GSV's own R50 unboxing. The R50 comes with a carrying case, the power adapter and 250 club tracking stickers. The R10 comes with a tripod stand and phone mount, a carry case and a Garmin Golf membership trial. The R50 has a 10 in color touchscreen, three high-speed cameras, a built-in barometer and an HDMI port for a TV or projector. The R10 is a Doppler radar that runs from the Garmin Golf app on a phone or tablet.
R50 or R10
- A simulator room, no PC to start: the R50. It sits beside the ball, so it adds no depth to the room, reads the ball with cameras, needs no marked balls, and plays Home Tee Hero on its own screen or on a TV or projector over HDMI. Club data takes one round sticker on the top middle of the face. It is $4,500 more than the R10.
- The lowest price: the R10. It runs from a phone or tablet and weighs 148 g, about 5 oz. As a radar it sits 6 to 8 ft behind the ball and needs at least 8 ft of ball flight, so in the Sim Builder its shortest room is 1 ft deeper than the R50's. Both work indoors and outdoors.
GSV compared both with the FlightScope Mevo Gen 2: Mevo Gen 2 vs Garmin R50 and Mevo Gen 2 vs Garmin R10.
How much room each needs
The R50 goes about 1 ft 6 in to the side of the tee, facing it, at about the height of the tee, by Garmin's manual.

The R10 goes on the floor 6 to 8 ft behind the tee, lined up with the tee and the target, and the tee has to be at least 8 ft from the net or screen indoors, by Garmin's manual.

For a 5 ft 9 in golfer in a room 14 ft wide with a 10 ft ceiling, the GSV Sim Builder lays out an R50 with no caution in a room 17 ft deep, and with cautions down to 14 ft 6 in: the swing behind the golfer and the ball flight set the depth, not the unit. An R10 behind the ball needs 15 ft 6 in at the least and 17 ft with no caution. Lower the ceiling and the swing clears with no caution down to 8 ft 11 in. Narrow the room and one golfer fits down to 10 ft wide, with the tee off center. Put your own room in the GSV Sim Builder.
Software and the Garmin Golf membership
Garmin's own course play is Home Tee Hero, with 43,000+ courses. Garmin says an active Garmin Golf membership is needed for it with an R10 or an R50. Garmin's Garmin Golf app lists the membership at $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year. The R10 comes with a membership trial. The R50 runs Home Tee Hero on its own screen. The R10 runs it through the Garmin Golf app.
Both connect to third-party software. The R50 has an official GSPro connection over its built-in Wi-Fi, and GSPro needs a Windows gaming PC. GSPro is separate paid software, $250 a year from GSPro. Shop Indoor Golf also lists E6 Connect and Awesome Golf for the R50, and E6 Connect for the R10, with 5 free courses on iOS. GSPro lists both units.
| What you want | Per year | R50 plus year one |
