A golf simulator enclosure is the frame, impact screen and surround that turns a room into a hitting bay: the screen takes the ball and the projector's picture, and the sides and top keep a mishit off the walls and ceiling. Here are the main home and commercial enclosures, from Shop Indoor Golf's SIG8, SIG10, SIG12 and SIGPRO Commercial to Carl's Place's DIY and PRO, the G-TRAK garage screen and the GolfIN SimBooth 2. Each comes with the maker's sizes and list price, what Jay found putting it together, and the smallest room it fits in the GSV Sim Builder. Jay Lasco, host of Golf Simulator Videos, has built the SIG10, the SIGPRO Commercial, Carl's Place DIY and PRO enclosures, the G-TRAK and the SimBooth 2, in his garage and at two golf clubs.

The short answer
- Push pin poles, nothing to cut: the SIG10, with color-coded poles and a 4:3 screen the picture fills, for a room about 11 ft wide or more.
- Lowest price: a Carl's Place DIY kit, from $999.95, with the screen down to the turf and the 1 in EMT pipe bought separately.
- Bigger rooms and overhead launch monitors: the Carl's Place PRO or the SIGPRO Commercial, on 2 in pipe that carries the projector and launch monitor, up to 15 ft deep.
- A garage that still parks a car: the G-TRAK, a motorized screen on the garage door tracks.
- All-in-one, with walls, floor and ceiling: the GolfIN SimBooth 2.

Prices are each maker's regular list price, read October 17, 2026, before any sale, code or shipping: Shop Indoor Golf for SIG and SIGPRO, Carl's Place, G-Trak and SimBooth. Carl's Place gives a starting price for each line, and the size, depth and screen set the rest.
The room each enclosure needs
The frame is only part of it: the golfer needs room to swing inside it, and a launch monitor behind the ball needs room too. These are the narrowest room and the lowest ceiling each enclosure fits in the GSV Sim Builder with nothing to watch, for a right-handed golfer 5 ft 9 in tall with a SkyTrak ST MAX beside the ball, with 2 in spare beside and above the frame.
| Enclosure | Narrowest room | Lowest ceiling |
|---|---|---|
| SIG8 | 10 ft 0 in | 8 ft 11 in |
| SIG10 | 11 ft 2 in | 8 ft 11 in |
| SIG12 | 12 ft 6 in | 9 ft 6 in |
| Carl's DIY 7.7 x 10 | 10 ft 9 in | 8 ft 11 in |
| Carl's DIY 7.7 x 13 (16:9) | 14 ft 0 in | 8 ft 11 in |
| Carl's PRO 8 x 10.5 | 11 ft 5 in | 8 ft 11 in |
| Carl's PRO 8.5 x 11 | 11 ft 11 in | 9 ft 1 in |
| Carl's PRO 9 x 12 | 12 ft 9 in | 9 ft 8 in |
| Carl's PRO 10 x 13 | 13 ft 9 in | 10 ft 5 in |
| Carl's PRO 8.5 x 14.5 (16:9) | 15 ft 6 in | 9 ft 1 in |
| Carl's PRO 10 x 15.5 (16:10) | 16 ft 3 in | 10 ft 5 in |
- Depth: about 17 ft for a layout with nothing to watch, with the 5 ft deep frame, a launch monitor beside or behind the ball, and the tee about 9 to 10 ft from the screen. The SIG8 wants 18 ft, because its narrow frame brings the follow-through close.
- Ceiling: 8 ft 11 in is the swing, not the frame: a driver for a 5 ft 9 in golfer. A taller golfer needs more.
- Both hands: a centered tee for right and left-handed golfers takes a wider room. Shop Indoor Golf puts that at 14 ft or more.
- Shop Indoor Golf's own guide: rooms of 10 x 16 ft with a 9 ft ceiling for the SIG8, 12 x 18 x 9 ft for the SIG10 and 14 x 20 x 10 ft for the SIG12.
Put your own room, golfer and launch monitor into the GSV Sim Builder, or the room size checker, and it picks the enclosure that fits.

Shop Indoor Golf SIG8, SIG10 and SIG12
The SIG enclosures are Shop Indoor Golf's home kits: color-coded push pin poles and connectors, a SIGPRO Premium impact screen, protective foam padding, the surround and 6 in ball bungees, all in the box, with no pipe to cut. Shop Indoor Golf rates the screens for ball strikes up to 250 mph. All three are 5 ft deep.
- SIG8: a square 7 ft 7 in screen, 1:1. The picture fills about 80% of it, by Shop Indoor Golf, so it suits the smallest rooms. GSV's budget simulator builds around it.
- SIG10: a 10 ft 1 in x 7 ft 7 in screen, 4:3, designed so the picture fills all of it. Shop Indoor Golf calls it its best seller. Full details on the SIG10 page.
- SIG12: an 11 ft 5 in x 8 ft 7 in screen, 4:3, for a wider room with a ceiling of about 10 ft.
Shop Indoor Golf says the SIG frames are not built to carry gear, so the projector goes on the ceiling or in a floor projector enclosure, and an overhead launch monitor on the ceiling.
Jay's SIG10 build (2023): alone, in about an hour and 15 minutes, and he expects it to go faster the second time. The poles are color coordinated, the padded poles and corners and the Velcro pads show attention to detail, and the screen was dialed in with no sag or wrinkles in 10 to 15 minutes. The real work was emptying and cleaning the garage first.

Shop Indoor Golf DIY Enclosure Kit and custom sizes
The DIY Enclosure Kit is the SIG approach for builders who cut their own frame: the SIGPRO Premium screen, surround, four foam pads, canopy fittings with set screws and ball bungees, on 1 in EMT bought from a hardware store. Shop Indoor Golf lists ten sizes, in 1:1, 4:3, 16:9 and 16:10, all 5 ft deep, from $1,619.99 to $2,089.99. Made-to-order sizes start at $1,260.99 for the SIG Custom DIY, cut to the buyer's measurements.
SIGPRO Commercial
Shop Indoor Golf built the SIGPRO Commercial for everyday use in public spaces. It stands on its own on 2 in pipe, and the projector and launch monitor mount to the frame. There is no bottom front pipe to hit. It comes in six sizes, 4:3 and 16:10, 5 or 8 ft deep, and 10 or 15 ft deep from the 9 ft 4 in x 12 ft 2 in size up, from $3,149.99 to $4,869.99. Deeper frames get a crossbar for an overhead launch monitor: 6 ft 6 in from the screen at 10 to 13 ft deep, and 7 ft 6 in at 15 ft. The impact screen, surround, 2 in canopy fittings and pipe padding inside and out are included. The 2 in pipe frame kit is now sold separately; in 2024 it came with it.
Tyrone Hills Golf Club (2024): Jay built one in a glass-walled room there, about 10 ft deep, almost 14 ft wide and 10 ft tall, with a 12 ft 6 in x 9 ft 8 in picture, an Uneekor EYE XO on the crossbar and the projector on the frame. It took two people and a few ladders, three made it easy, and about four hours. Free-standing was the point: the room has a tall vaulted ceiling and glass walls, and the enclosure went up without making it a construction project. The screen wraps under a padded cable at the bottom, so no ball gets under it, and a blackout screen fights the daylight. Driver shots at about 164 mph stopped 2 ft 6 in to 3 ft off the screen. The golf simulator business guide covers commercial bays.

Carl's Place DIY
Carl's Place's DIY kit is a free-standing 1 in EMT frame with the impact screen, a BlackStop surround, steel fittings and zip ties. The pipe comes as an add-on framing kit or from a hardware store. Its screen is cabled at the bottom and runs to the turf, which Carl's Place calls a floor-to-turf borderless screen. Six standard sizes, about 5 ft deep:
- 4:3: 7.7 x 10, 8 x 10.5, 8.5 x 11.5 and 9 x 12 ft
- 16:9: 7.7 x 13 ft
- 1:1: 8 x 8 ft
Any other size is made to order. The kits start at $999.95, with a choice of Standard, Preferred, Premium or High-Contrast Gray screens.
Jay's Carl's DIY builds:
- 16:9, 13 ft wide (2022): alone, in just over an hour, on Carl's pre-cut, labeled poles. The Premium screen was very quiet in an echoey garage and drivers at 162 mph came back only a little. For a room used mainly for golf, Jay recommends 16:10 over 16:9 where the height allows, and found side nets unnecessary on an enclosure that wide.
- Screen to the floor (2023): about an hour and a half alone. The screen bolts to a cable sewn into its bottom edge, the picture runs all the way to the ground, and the ball barely came back to the mat. A brace sits behind it, and about a foot from the wall is often enough.

Carl's Place PRO
The PRO is Carl's Place's bigger frame, on 2 in EMT, sold separately or as Carl's Place's pipe framing kit, and strong enough by Carl's Place to carry projectors, lighting and overhead launch monitors. Six standard sizes, 8 x 10.5, 8.5 x 11, 9 x 12 and 10 x 13 ft at 4:3, 8.5 x 14.5 ft at 16:9 and 10 x 15.5 ft at 16:10. Carl's Place lists depths of 5, 8, 10 and 15 ft, and the PRO can be custom sized to the inch. It has a one-piece wraparound BlackStop cover for the ceiling and sides, foam inserts, and a Premium White or High-Contrast Gray screen. An adjustable ceiling crossbar is optional. Carl's Place puts the build at about two hours. It starts at $3,409.95, and the Carl's Place Curved enclosure, from $4,894.95, wraps a curved screen around the bay.
Jay's PRO, in his garage (2025): 15 1/2 ft wide, 15 ft deep and 10 ft tall, with the gray screen, the projector on the frame and an overhead launch monitor on the crossbar.
- Two people: at that size, with heavy 2 in EMT, Jay recommends two. Back the connector screws out first so the poles seat fully.
- Quiet: the screen hangs on zip ties instead of ball bungees, so it absorbs the ball, and a shot lands with a thud rather than a crack.
- Light: BlackStop barely let through a high bay light a foot away.
- Width: at 15 1/2 ft, there is plenty of room for a two-sided mat with the tee in the middle.
- One wish: a way to run wiring down a pole; Jay routed his cables along the top.
Jay also installed a Carl's PRO at Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club. More on the line in the Carl's Place review.

G-TRAK retractable garage screen
The G-TRAK is a motorized impact screen whose brackets mount on the garage door tracks, so the door still opens and the car still parks. A remote rolls it down to play and back up out of the way. G-Trak sells six sizes, from a 7 ft screen for an 8 ft door at $1,999.99 to a 14 ft screen for a 16 ft door at $2,999.99, and a $199.99 Wall Mount Kit hangs it on a wall instead. Shop Indoor Golf sells it alone and in garage packages, where GSV250 applies.
Jay's G-TRAK (2024): Jay recommends two people to lift it onto the rails, then the screen goes on, the surround netting and padding, with ropes to floor anchors. In a big echoey garage it was quiet and the ball dropped straight down. Jay called it maybe the simplest garage simulator GSV has set up. See the garage golf simulator guide.
GolfIN SimBooth 2
The SimBooth 2 is a complete booth rather than a frame: an aluminum structure with padded walls and ceiling panels, a full floor with a commercial hitting mat, and a 172 in screen. The booth is 12 ft 1 3/4 in wide, 8 ft 10 in tall and 12 ft deep. SimBooth lists it from $8,695, and its Kit 2, with a projector and the GolfIN IDRA II launch monitor, from $16,495. GSV viewers get special pricing on the SimBooth through Jay.
Jay's SimBooth 2 (2025): it arrived on a pallet, the largest package Jay had received, and went up in just over two hours. He built it alone apart from tipping it upright, when the family helped. The screen tucks under with no gap between turf and screen, and the floor takes a real tee. With the projector it came with, the screen showed thin black bars top and bottom, and Jay suggests an AK700ST or AH500ST set to fill it.

How to choose a golf simulator enclosure
- Measure first: width, depth and the ceiling, then the largest frame that leaves a few inches each side and above. Swing a driver where the tee will be before ordering.
- Screen shape: 4:3 fills the screen from a short-throw projector and suits most rooms; 16:10 and 16:9 are wider and need the width. The projector calculator matches a projector to the screen.
- Depth of the frame: 5 ft suits most homes. 8 to 15 ft frames hold high wedges and shanks inside the bay. A crossbar for an overhead launch monitor, such as the overhead units, comes on SIGPRO Commercial frames 10 ft deep or more and is optional on the Carl's Place PRO.
- Frame: push pin poles for no cutting, 1 in EMT for the lowest cost, 2 in EMT or pipe to carry the projector and launch monitor.
- Screen: a premium screen is quieter and bounces back less, which Jay found build after build. A gray screen holds contrast where there is light in the room.
- Padding and light: foam over the poles keeps a mishit off the metal, and a dark surround keeps the picture rich.
An enclosure is not the only way: a built-in screen fills a wall from corner to corner. See golf simulator net vs impact screen, the basement golf simulator guide and how to build a golf simulator. For the floor inside the frame, see golf simulator mats and flooring. The impact screen guide compares the screens, and the golf simulator packages guide the enclosures sold with a launch monitor and projector.

Golf simulator enclosure questions
What is the best golf simulator enclosure?
It depends on the room and the budget. For a room about 11 ft wide or more, the SIG10: push pin poles with nothing to cut and a 4:3 screen the picture fills. For the lowest price, a Carl's Place DIY kit from $999.95. For a big room or an overhead launch monitor, a Carl's Place PRO or SIGPRO Commercial on 2 in pipe.
How much does a golf simulator enclosure cost?
By the makers' list prices in October 2026: Carl's Place DIY from $999.95, the SIG8 $1,799.99, the SIG10 $1,999.99, the SIG12 $2,499.99, the Carl's Place PRO from $3,409.95, the SIGPRO Commercial from $3,149.99 to $4,869.99, and the GolfIN SimBooth 2 from $8,695. Kits on EMT pipe need the pipe bought separately or as an add-on kit. GSV250 takes $250 off SIG enclosures.
What size room do you need for a golf simulator enclosure?
In the GSV Sim Builder, a SIG10 needs a room 11 ft 2 in wide and a SIG8 10 ft, with a ceiling of about 9 ft for a 5 ft 9 in golfer with a driver, and about 17 ft of depth for a layout with nothing to watch. A centered tee for right and left-handed golfers takes about 14 ft of width.
How deep is a golf simulator enclosure?
Most home enclosures, the SIG8, SIG10, SIG12 and Carl's Place DIY, are about 5 ft deep. The Carl's Place PRO and the SIGPRO Commercial come 5, 8, 10 or 15 ft deep. SIGPRO Commercial frames 10 ft deep or more get a crossbar for an overhead launch monitor, and the Carl's Place PRO takes an optional one.
SIG10 or Carl's Place?
The SIG10 has push pin poles in the box, so there is nothing to cut, and Jay built it alone in about an hour and 15 minutes. Carl's Place DIY kits cost less, run the screen down to the turf, and use 1 in EMT bought separately or as an add-on kit. Carl's Place PRO is the step up to 2 in EMT, also bought separately.
Can you mount a projector on a golf simulator enclosure?
On the 2 in frames, yes: Carl's Place says the PRO carries projectors and overhead launch monitors, and the SIGPRO Commercial mounts both to its frame. Shop Indoor Golf says the SIG8, SIG10 and SIG12 frames are not built to carry gear, so the projector goes on the ceiling.
How long does it take to build a golf simulator enclosure?
In Jay's builds: the SIG10 about an hour and 15 minutes alone, a Carl's Place DIY one to one and a half hours alone, the SimBooth 2 just over two hours, and the SIGPRO Commercial about four hours with two or three people. Jay recommends two people for a big Carl's Place PRO.
Is there a golf simulator enclosure for a garage that still parks a car?
Yes, the G-TRAK: a motorized screen whose brackets mount on the garage door tracks and roll it up out of the way by remote. It runs $1,999.99 to $2,999.99 by size, and the garage golf simulator guide covers it.
