Pureplay Golf Simulator Software: Early Access, Price, PC Requirements and Launch Monitors

Pureplay is new golf simulator software for Windows PCs, built on Unreal Engine by Beacon Games, an Australian company trading as Pureplay Golf. Its Early Access opened on November 6, 2026, and anyone can buy it now, play it today, and get the full release on December 18. This page covers what Early Access means, what Pureplay costs, the PC it needs for 1080p and for 4K, which launch monitors work, the courses so far and how it compares with GSPro, from Pureplay's own website, help center and roadmap as of November 8, 2026. Jay Lasco, host of Golf Simulator Videos, played Pureplay's closed beta at Silvertip with a GolfJoy Spica 3, and ran its early release on a 4K projector in November.

  • $249First year, the founders price, until December 17. Then $299 a year
  • Dec 18Full release, after Early Access opened November 6, 2026
  • 9Launch monitor brands connected inside Pureplay, plus OpenConnect

What's new with Pureplay

GSV keeps this page up to date as Pureplay changes and as new GSV videos come out.

  • November 8, 2026: Pureplay's build map shows 4 playable courses, 43 being built and 111 in the queue. Its help center lists 9 launch monitor brands connected inside Pureplay, plus OpenConnect for third-party software, among its 10 officially supported options.
  • November 7, 2026: GSV's BenQ AK800ST review shows Pureplay's early release at Silvertip in 4K.
  • November 6, 2026: Early Access opened at 5 PM Eastern, at the $249 founders price for the first year.
  • October 5, 2026: GSV's first look at the closed beta.

GSV's first look, from the closed beta in October 2026. The early release on a 4K laser projector is in the BenQ AK800ST video at 16:06, and written up in the AK800ST review.

The short answer

  • It is Early Access. Pureplay is paid and playable now, with more arriving at the full release on December 18 and after. Pureplay calls its roadmap "a plan, not a contract."
  • The price. $249 plus tax for the first year if you buy before 11:59 PM Pacific on December 17, 2026, then $299 a year, renewing until you cancel. One license plays on one PC.
  • No trial, but a refund. There is no free trial or demo during Early Access. A full refund is available within 14 days of your latest payment.
  • The PC. Windows 10 or 11 with TPM 2.0 turned on, 50 GB free, and an internet connection at least once every 7 days. An RTX 3060 with 16 GB is the minimum for 1080p. 4K asks for an RTX 3080 or better with 32 GB.
  • Launch monitors. 9 brands connect inside Pureplay, including GolfJoy, Square Golf, Garmin, the ProTee VX and Nova, plus OpenConnect for third-party connections. Uneekor, Trackman, Foresight, FlightScope, Rapsodo and SkyTrak are not on the list.
  • Courses. Pureplay's build map showed 4 playable courses on November 8, 2026, with 43 being built and 111 in the queue.

What is Pureplay?

Pureplay is third-party golf simulator software: it draws the course, flies the ball and runs the round, while a launch monitor reads the shot. It comes from Beacon Games Pty Ltd of Queensland, Australia, trading as Pureplay Golf, led by its founder and head of product, Greg McDonald. In May 2026 Pureplay said its team had grown to 8 full-time and 8 paid part-time members, and it moved to Unreal Engine 5.7.

What Pureplay says sets it apart:

  • Unreal Engine graphics in 4K, with courses mapped by LiDAR drone where needed and built by hand.
  • Its own physics engine, worked out per shot and per lie, with the surface, the terrain, the weather and the lie in the result, and water a ball can skip off or sink into.
  • Official launch monitor connections built in with each maker's own software kit, so there is no separate connector program for the supported brands.
  • One program for practice, course play, online play, tours and, from the full release, golf clubs and leagues.
  • Built in the open, with a public build log and a roadmap that says what lands at each date.

Pureplay Early Access and release date

Early Access is a paid early release. You buy the same yearly license as everyone will at the full release, download Pureplay and play it now, while the team finishes features and adds courses. Pureplay doesn't update by itself: the launcher shows Update when a new version is out. Some screens and names will change, and Pureplay's own guide says so.

  • Who can buy: anyone 18 or over. The waitlist is not needed, and closed beta testers buy the same way as everyone else.
  • When: Early Access opened Friday, November 6, 2026 at 5 PM Eastern. The consumer release is Friday, December 18, 2026.
  • Not on sale yet in Switzerland or Liechtenstein. Pureplay's help center says sales open there a little later.

From Development Update No. 4, September 15, 2026, updated October 8. In the build on November 8, Pureplay's menu still marks Compete and Minigames as not open yet. About 3 months after launch, Pureplay plans matchmaking, an online driving range, a speed trainer, on-course commentary, a caddy, a phone and tablet app, and third-party swing cameras. About 6 months after: ghost play and dynamic course conditions. Pureplay's help center adds that a free demo, with a driving range and a 9-hole course, is planned for the full release.

Pureplay system requirements: 1080p vs 4K PC specs

Pureplay picks its tiers by the screen you play on, and the two parts that matter most are the graphics card and the memory. Find the row for your projector or TV:

Your screen or projectorGraphics cardMemory
1080p, the minimumNVIDIA RTX 3060 or AMD RX 6750 XT16 GB
1080p, greatNVIDIA RTX 3070 or 3060 Ti, or AMD RX 680016 GB
4KNVIDIA RTX 3080 or better32 GB
4K, greatNVIDIA RTX 4070 or better32 GB

From Pureplay's FAQ and its help center article "Your computer." Pureplay calls the higher tiers "great," and says "or better" means a newer or higher-numbered card from the same maker: an RTX 4080 is better than an RTX 4070. Pureplay lists no processor.

1080p or 4K: which tier do you need?

  • The projector decides. A 1080p projector shows 1080p however strong the PC is, so a 1080p room needs the 1080p tiers. 4K only reaches the screen through a 4K projector or TV, like the BenQ AK700ST, AK800ST or AK900ST.
  • 4K is four times the pixels. 3840 x 2160 is four 1920 x 1080 pictures, and the card draws every pixel in every frame. That is why the card steps up from an RTX 3060 to an RTX 3080 class.
  • 4K doubles the memory. Both 4K tiers ask for 32 GB. A simulator PC bought with 16 GB for 1080p software is short for Pureplay in 4K, and recording, swing cameras and a launch monitor app all use more on top.
  • Minimum or great. The minimum is what Pureplay needs to run at that resolution. In GSV's reading, the great tiers are the headroom that keeps the frame rate steady with more detail turned on.
  • The frame rate. Most simulator projectors show 60 frames a second, so a steady 60 matters more than a higher number. A cap of 60 in Pureplay's settings is enough for most rooms, and refresh rate vs FPS explains why a PC that runs faster than the projector can still stutter.

Everything else the PC needs

  • Windows 10 or 11. There is no Mac version yet.
  • TPM 2.0 turned on. It is the security chip Windows 11 needs, and Pureplay won't run without it. On some PCs it is off in the BIOS. To check, type tpm.msc in the Start menu: Status should say "The TPM is ready for use" and Specification Version should say 2.0. Don't click Clear TPM or Prepare the TPM.
  • 50 GB of free space.
  • Internet, to activate Pureplay and at least once every 7 days after.
  • To see your card and memory: press Ctrl, Shift and Esc for Task Manager, click Performance, then GPU 0 for the card and Memory for the amount.

Which simulator PC fits each tier

GSV's partner SurfThing builds simulator PCs. This is GSV's reading of Pureplay's tiers against SurfThing's specs, not a Pureplay or SurfThing test:

  • 1080p: the SG3-5602, with an RTX 5060 and 16 GB.
  • 4K: the SG3-5702, with an RTX 5070 and 32 GB, is the first SurfThing desktop with the 32 GB both 4K tiers ask for. The SG3-5702Ti and the RTX 5080 SG3-5802 leave more headroom.

GSV ran Pureplay on an RTX 5090: the closed beta on the Epic preset, and the early release at maximum settings at 60 frames a second on a 4K projector. GSV has not tested the lower tiers.

Which launch monitors work with Pureplay?

Pureplay's help center lists 10 officially supported options: 9 launch monitor brands whose connection is built into Pureplay, and OpenConnect. For the 9, pick yours under Settings, Launch Monitor, and it connects by itself. OpenConnect is a setting for connections made by third-party software, which Pureplay's FAQ says it does not provide, test or support.

Not on the list: Uneekor, Trackman, Foresight and Bushnell, FlightScope, Rapsodo, SkyTrak, Full Swing and others. Pureplay says more are in development, and that some may work through third-party connectors such as rēlā, which Pureplay does not provide, test or support. Check your unit against Pureplay's list before buying either one, and use the 14-day refund if a connection does not work out.

Pureplay courses

Pureplay builds its own courses, and the library grows through Early Access and after. Its public build map on November 8, 2026:

  • 4 playable, including CDA National Reserve in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and Ozarks National in Hollister, Missouri.
  • 43 being built and 111 in the queue, with 1,264 more requested by golfers.
  • Silvertip, in Canmore, Alberta, is the course GSV played in the beta and on the AK800ST.

Pureplay has not published a full course list. Golfers vote for courses on the map (TPC Sawgrass led the votes), and there are three ways to add one:

  1. Champion a course. Send the course a link, and its operator signs a one-page, non-exclusive agreement that costs it nothing. Pureplay maps it, with LiDAR where needed, and builds it free.
  2. Community designers, from early 2027: build a course with Pureplay's tools and help, and get paid for each one published.
  3. Paid course building, by Pureplay's designers with priority in the queue, priced by quote.

That is the trade against GSPro today: a few hand-built courses with more on the way, against GSPro's 2,500 and more community courses.

What is in Pureplay now

  • Rounds: up to 8 players in a party, signed in, invited online or as guests. Game format, holes, putting mode, pins, green speed, firmness, elevation, mulligans, concessions and gimmes are all set in the lobby.
  • Side games: skins, longest drive and closest to the pin.
  • Weather and light: time of day, clouds, fog and wind, with a lighting panel during a round.
  • Data: 32 data tiles, each sized from extra small to extra large or hidden, along the bottom or the left of the screen. A scorecard with fairways, greens in regulation and putts.
  • Practice: range practice, course practice and the Training Center.
  • For a simulator room: swing camera integration, OBS streaming data, QR code sign-in and stats on the website.
  • Still to open: Pureplay's own menu marks Compete and Minigames as not open yet in this build.

What GSV saw in Pureplay

From the closed beta, six holes at Silvertip with a GolfJoy Spica 3 connected inside the software:

  • Graphics: grass with depth, pines that hold their detail in a flyover, real-looking water, and smooth flyovers on the Epic preset.
  • Physics: a wedge near 10,000 rpm landed and came back, and a 1,700 rpm chip released, close to real shots.
  • Penalty drops with three choices and a drop spot you can move, and green aids with a grid, color overlays and contour lines.
  • Unfinished in the beta: practice menus, a short delay with the Spica 3, greens that felt faster than the stimp setting, and no way to concede a hole.

The full write-up is in the Pureplay first look. On the BenQ AK800ST, Pureplay's early release at Silvertip showed bark on close-up pines, contrast at bunker edges and smooth flyovers in 4K.

How many courses does Pureplay have?

Pureplay's build map showed 4 playable courses on November 8, 2026, with 43 being built and 111 in the queue. It builds its own courses, adds them as they are finished, and has not published a full list.

Does Pureplay work on a Mac?

No. Pureplay runs on Windows 10 or 11 only for now.

Is Pureplay cheaper than GSPro?

For the first year, about the same: $249 at Pureplay's founders price against $250 a year for GSPro. After that Pureplay is $299 a year. GSPro has far more courses and launch monitors today.

Is there a Pureplay discount code?

GSV has no code for Pureplay itself. The founders price, $249 for the first year for purchases until 11:59 PM Pacific on December 17, 2026, is the launch offer. GSV's codes cover the launch monitors that work with it, such as JLASCO10 for GolfJoy and GSVSQUARE for Square Golf.
