What the video covers
At the time of the video, the update was new: it made Awesome Golf playable with the Square Golf launch monitor. Jay looks at what it opens up for Square Golf owners, and the description names games, practice ranges and courses among the new features.
The description also sets out, from Square Golf, how the launch monitor works:
- In the box: the launch monitor, a replaceable lithium-ion battery, a USB A-to-C charging cable, a club marker, a remote control, three patterned golf balls for spin data, and a swing stick with a safety strap for virtual shots without a ball.
- Ball and club data: without the club marker, the unit measures the ball's speed, direction and spin. With the marker on the club, it adds club path and attack angle, and face angle in virtual shot mode. Square Golf says the patterned ball and the club marker improve the accuracy of these numbers.
- Taking a shot: the LED blinks blue while the unit looks for the ball and turns green when it is ready. The minimum ball speed it detects is 3.4 mph for regular shots and 1.1 mph for putts.
- Connection: Bluetooth Low Energy.
Where this stands now
This video is from 2025. Square Golf's current models, prices and software are in the Square Golf review, and Awesome Golf itself is in the Awesome Golf guide.
The GSV Sim Builder places a launch monitor in your room at its real distance, with the screen, the mat and the golfer, and checks the fit.
