Launch Monitor Finder: The Best Launch Monitor for Your Home Simulator

Which launch monitor is best for your home simulator? Answer a few questions, your budget, your room, whether it goes outdoors too, whether you want to play GSPro and whether club data matters, and the GSV launch monitor finder lists the launch monitors that suit, checked against your room by the GSV Sim Builder. Each one comes with GSV's link and code where GSV has one, and a link to see it in your room in 3D. Jay Lasco, host of Golf Simulator Videos, has tested most of these launch monitors on camera, and his reviews are linked from the results.

How the finder decides

  • Budget: each launch monitor sits in a price band from its maker's own list price, checked October 14, 2026. ProTee does not publish a price for the VX, so it sits in the band of its dealers' price. Shops run sales, so the link shows today's price, and GSV's codes can take more off.
  • Your room: every launch monitor is run through the GSV Sim Builder's room check, with the enclosure and tee it would use in your room. One that will not fit is left out; one that fits with a caution says why.
  • Outdoors: only the units whose makers say they work outdoors or on the range.
  • GSPro: only the units on GSPro's own list of supported launch monitors. GSPro itself is a separate subscription, $250 a year from GSPro, and some makers need their own paid tier to connect to it.
  • Club data: leaves out the units that give ball data only, or only some club data.
  • Where it sits: on the ceiling, beside the ball or behind the ball, if you already know which suits your room.

The list shows the cleanest fit for your room first, then the higher price bands, which generally buy more data and accuracy. Each card shows where the unit sits, its price band, its club data, GSPro, outdoor use and the membership its maker needs, if any.

Overhead, beside the ball or behind the ball?

Where it sitsGood forWatch
Overhead, on the ceilingLeft and right-handed golfers with no moving, a clear floorA mounting height of about 9 to 10 ft, and a fixed install
Beside the ballShort rooms, and taking it to the range on many modelsIt sits across the ball from the golfer, so it moves sides for a left-handed golfer
Behind the ballOutdoor use and many of the lowest pricesIts own distance behind the ball, so generally one of the deepest rooms

Memberships and what they unlock

Many launch monitors need a paid membership for course play, club data or third-party software such as GSPro. The finder shows it on each card. A few makers say no membership is needed: Square Golf, ProTee for the VX and FlightScope for the Mevo Gen2 have no yearly fee, though the Mevo Gen2's face angle and club path come in a paid Pro Package. Where a maker does not say, or its own pages disagree, the card says to check with the maker.

Launch monitor finder questions

What is the best launch monitor for a golf simulator?

The one that fits the room, the budget and the way you want to play. The finder checks each one against your room with the GSV Sim Builder and lists the cleanest fit first. GSV's best golf simulators guide has the picks at every price.

What is the best launch monitor under $1,000?

The Square Golf Home Edition, Garmin R10, Rapsodo MLM2PRO and Rapsodo MLM2XPRO list under $1,000 at their makers, and GSV's launch monitors under $1,000 guide compares them after testing each one.

Which launch monitors work with GSPro?

GSPro's own list includes units from Uneekor, FlightScope, Foresight, Bushnell, Full Swing, Garmin, Rapsodo, ProTee, Square Golf and GolfJoy, among others. GSPro is $250 a year, and some makers need their own paid tier to connect. Tick GSPro in the finder to see only those.

Do launch monitors need a subscription?

Many do, for course play, club data or third-party software. Square Golf, ProTee for the VX and FlightScope for the Mevo Gen2 say no yearly fee is needed. Each card in the finder shows the membership its maker needs, or says to check with the maker where it is not clear.

Is an overhead launch monitor better?

An overhead unit, mounted on the ceiling, keeps the floor clear and works for left and right-handed golfers, but it needs its maker's mounting height, usually about 9 to 10 ft. A unit beside the ball suits short rooms and many go to the range. The finder can show only one kind.

Which launch monitors work outdoors?

Radar units behind the ball, such as the Garmin R10 and FlightScope Mevo Gen2, and camera units beside the ball, such as the Foresight GC3 and Square Golf OMNI, say they work outdoors or on the range. Units on the ceiling are for indoors. Tick outdoors in the finder to see them.

Where do the finder's prices come from?

From each maker's own list price, checked October 14, 2026, placed in a price band. ProTee does not publish a price for the VX, so it is placed by its dealers' price. Shops run sales, so the link shows today's price, and GSV's codes can take more off.
