This news comes as no surprise to our members and those who help make the club what it is every day.

Our legacy speaks for itself.

Some of the biggest names in golf have graced the green in various tournaments on our two championship courses—Tony Jacklin, Jimmy Powell, Jay Sigel—just to name a few. PGA Tour star Jordan Spieth was 16 and the defending champion when Egypt Valley hosted the U.S. Junior Amateur in July of 2010. Though he didn’t win, he was among the players who demonstrated golf talent beyond their years in the first USGA national championship ever held in West Michigan.

Spieth called Egypt Valley a great host for the championship.

“The USGA always picks first-class sites and golf courses,” he said. “I can’t blame the golf course. It was perfect.”

The club’s tournament history is rich and far reaching and demonstrates exactly why Egypt Valley is considered the best.

Lead by Golf Course Manager, Jeff Holmes, Egypt Valley’s maintenance team is not just among the best in the Midwest, but the country. Jeff serves as President of the Michigan Golf Course Superintendent Association and in 2017 was awarded the GAM Superintendent Award of Merit—a huge honor!

Nobody knows our courses and keeps them in extraordinary shape better than Jeff and his team—including Aaron Kahny, Golf Course Superintendent, Ridge Course; and Kevin Thielke, Golf Course Superintended, Valley Course.

Current members Joan Garety and Jack VanEss are in the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame based on their many accomplishments in the game, as are Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll, the daughter of long-time members David and Sharon Slobodnik, and Lynn Janson, a former longtime professional at the club. Each of them have won multiple state championships and had success in national events during their golf careers.

Members also include those who are making strides within the West Michigan community and beyond—whether it be in the realm of nonprofit organizations, charities or otherwise. We’re proud to have such a diverse and impactful membership!
